What is ASPAI?
Childhood obesity and inactivity is steadily becoming a common problem among today's youth. This issue has gained notice by our provincial government. In 2010, funding for a pilot project, a collaborative effort between the Departments of Tourism, Culture and Recreation and Health and Community Services, was announced. This project, the After School Physical Activity Initiative (ASPAI) aims at improving the health of our youth by providing funding to provide physical activity during the hours immediately following the school day.
Epiphany Elementary, through a partnership with the Heart's Delight-Islington Recreation Committee, was lucky enough to be selected as one of the 25 province wide pilot schools.
